The European Union recently put its car
manufacturers in front of their own choice to a draft of legally
binding limits of CO2 emissions of cars with 2012 at a level of 120g
per driven kilometer. This step of the EU is founded within the
observation that it seems improbable to the EU that european carmakers
will achieve its voluntarily chosen goal to cut CO2 emissions on new
manufactured cars.
Very interesting to observe is the reaction of the by that relevant
organisations, sourcing from their top management levels. Now there
arrive written outcries about the security of workplaces. This reaction
is for me in evidence of the human activity of earliest learning. That
seems to depend upon the reoccurring experience as child that to cry
for leads to an improvement of the situation. Be it so that some
unpleasant condition is corrected or that boredom is eliminated by
someone coming along and picking one up.
This finding on earliest learning emanates from Constructivism, to be found at Ernst von Glasersfeld,
and is for me some exakt re-presentation of the behaviour of top
management of previously addressed car manufacturers. Some akward
situation, which is meet with the experience of earliest learning. Or
in other words: What is the personal level of maturity on which these
management levels of organizations are on?
Furthermore I recognize, from the media coverage known to me, that
the car manufacturing industry is left with its own choice. Between
achieving its voluntarily defined objectives or the definition of the
objective from outside. For these objectives are identical.
Consequently this is supporting my theory on the previously described
behaviour of a learning pattern that is applied to this situation as a
reaction out of earliest human learning. However where organizations in
that require organizational learning to actually do achieve the
objective.
Or as Ernst von Glasersfeld already wrote in 1995: “Considerung
todays world, one can barely withdraw from the conclusion that the
mindset of not only giving advance to rivalry and conflict, but to
support the entire deliberation to adjustment and cooperation maybe
will be the only possibility to save the human life on this planet.”
For that change is required, change to which the car manufactures
did already commit themselves to. And change the EU is again affirming.
Supportive to this is here now the acceptance of the objective and the
understanding that some objective is only achievable through a process.
And in view of the already us showing climate change in our habitat i
can only pose the following question: When do we begin?
